The SMTA Portal is an online platform designed to facilitate the secure and efficient exchange of plant genetic material under the terms of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA). The portal provides access to the Standard Material Transfer Agreement (SMTA), a legally binding contract that ensures plant genetic material is transferred in compliance with international guidelines.
The SMTA Portal simplifies the process of transferring plant genetic resources for research, breeding, and training purposes, ensuring that all parties involved agree to fair terms and that the benefits arising from the use of this material are shared equitably.
